Mediterranean Diet

The expression "Mediterranean Diet" has probably been invented by illustrated magazines; truly speaking, here, in the western Liguria, one smiles almost ironically if other people make mention of this "special diet".

It is pratically the only existing diet in this land: it is not based exclusively on fish, the real "strong" part comes from the olive oil ("oliva taggiasca"), the "Sardinian" flat-bread cake (the one used by cabotage sailors who went to and from Sardinia), the flavoured "green pie" (made with vegetables and rice), noodles, soups, mushrooms, and various types of pancakes.

Tastes and aromas of the sea are mixed together with the "challenges" coming from the lucky land kissed by the sun.
